Very hard to put down after you get to the 1/2 way point - as any good book! Enjoyed the locale of Ocean City and those recollections from growing up nearby. The character development, as it was with Paul's first book, was excellent. I felt genuinely bad for this guy, Adam - as was unsure what catastrophe could strike him next - had a knot in my stomach through most of the book. I would describe the book as suspenseful, slightly salacious undercurrent, thought provoking, with a mixed indictment how organized religion can go bad - when the true principles of Christianity get lost. It is a believable story (with our litigious society)- you'll enjoy this book!Product details

The characters captured your interest from the first chapter. I enjoyed the connection to Paul’s first book Harvest of Thorns. Through his writing you can vividly visualize the characters and locations. Looking forward to reading book 3 in the near future.
Shunned was an excellent stand alone book but even better as a follow up to Harvest of Thorns by this author!
I loved the book! Well written and really grabs your attention. I could not put it down and had to stay up very late to finish it. The characters were wonderful and well developed. Please try the books by this author as you won't regret it.
After reading Mr. Wootten's first book, Harvest of Thorns, I greatly anticipated reading this (somewhat) pre-quel. And Mr. Wootten did NOT disappoint. Like his first book, great plot, appropriate character development and addictive writing style -- couldn't put it down. Nicely done Mr. Wootten!! My only wish is that you'd have started your book-writing career earlier )
I a big Paul Wootten fan. Know him personally a although I'm not a reader I find his books impossible to put down. Loved his first book and am looking forward to his next one. Would recommend both of his books and would bet that you to will have trouble putting them down.
I had a hard time putting this book down after I started reading. Paul Wootten did a good job developing the characters. I felt sorry for the main character. Throughout the book I kept thinking of the possible ways Adam could get out of the trouble he was in. I was anxious to finish it to see how it would end. I wasn't disappointed!
This book was wonderful!!! First, we got to see some of the characters of "Harvest of Thorns" which I loved! It's not necessary to read that first, because "Shunned" stands on its own, but it was fun to get to see more of Theresa and Harvester!
This book is much different than Harvest Of Thorns, it spans over just a few weeks instead of decades. It follows the main character, Adam, whose position of authority in a hospital places him under public scrutiny as a not-so-savory tale emerges. Is it true or not? That is the question as his life crumbles around him and he loses everything he's worked for. Is Adam lying or is everyone else judging an innocent man?
I was literally on the edge of my seat reading to find out whether or not the tale was true, and how far everyone was willing to SHUN him!
